Sports Security Management

Course Description

This course examines the concepts, principles, and methods of organizing and administering security management and loss-prevention activities in industry, business, government, and sport venues. Emphasis is on protection of assets, personnel, and facilities.

Course Goals
Upon successful completion of this course, each student will be able to:
1. Summarize the origins and development of security
2. Define security’s role in sports events
3. Discuss risk analysis, security surveys, and insurance
4. Explain outer defenses
5. Illustrate interior and exterior security concerns
6. Define inner defenses
7. Identify the basics of contingency planning, fire protection, emergency response, and safety
8. Discuss internal theft controls and personnel issues
9. Recognize the threats of terrorism and other tools of destruction
10. Describe the security involved in computers, information, and information systems
